Rescheduled: Plein Air Sketching
Athenaeum Young Friends
Join the Athenaeum Young Friends for plein air sketching inspired by our current exhibition Laurie Olin: Drawing to See. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition for inspiration. Afterwards, attendees will informally sketch in Washington Square Park.
RESCHEDULED from Tuesday, June 24th to Monday, June 30th at 5:30pm.
Materials List (Bring you own, not provided by the Athenaeum)
- Something to sit on (blanket, camp chair, or portable stool)
- A clipboard
- Paper
- A pencil (HB or softer)
- Waterproof pen (ex: Microns, fountain pen with Platinum Carbon Ink)
Optional:
- Cold press watercolor paper
- brushes (sizes 10 and/or 5 round)
- a portable container for water
- colored pencils
- kneaded eraser
- a binder clip or clamp to keep paper from blowing
- watercolors or gouache
- I recommend the colors:
- titanium/permanent white
- ivory black
- burnt umber
- raw umber
- burnt sienna
- yellow ochre
- cadmium red or scarlet lake
- cadmium yellow
- sap green
- oxide of chromium
- french ultramarine
- quinacridone violet
- quinacridone magenta or permanent rose
