James Stirling, An Architect Who Challenged and Embraced What Came Before
Ed Jakmauh

A British architect born in Scotland, Jim grew up in Liverpool. He was a Pritzker Laureate, the ‘Nobel Prize’ of architecture.

Creative and original, Jim struggled with what to do after the ‘white modern’ buildings of the 1920s, 30s, and 40s we associate with Le Corbusier of France and Walter Gropius, of Germany, who founded the Bauhaus. This talk covers Jim’s life and professional work, in two parts: First, 1923 to 1981 and Second: 1982 until his death. Part Two is scheduled for January 11, 2022.
