This is a private tour at the Fairmount Water Works, the 1815 Classical Revival pumping station on the Schuylkill that was an engineering and architectural marvel of its time, now a National Historic Landmark, National Civil Engineering Landmark, and National Mechanical Engineering Landmark. The Interpretive Center inside has been the watershed education arm of the Philadelphia Water Department for twenty years.
