The Changing Role of Museums
Christopher Woods

Penn Museum Director Christopher Woods discusses the evolution of the role of museums in contemporary society, including the repatriation of artifacts and art, as well as an increasing emphasis on community engagement, accessibility, and equity. As the narrative around the collection and presentation of artifacts undergoes a shift, cultural institutions face both challenges and opportunities related to ethical stewardship. Museums must reevaluate how to best share their knowledge and resources with the public in a way that addresses the complicated legacies their collections contain.

Reception to follow.
