Drawing from his recently published work, Professor Bell will discuss the breadth and depth of America’s founding event which was not only the colonies’ triumphant liberation from the rule of an overbearing England. It was also a cataclysm that pulled in participants from around the globe and threw the entire world order into chaos.
Book signing and light refreshment will follow the program.
Professor Bell will return (virtually) to The Athenæum in April for a four-part class, The Declaration of Independence: America’s Birth Certificate, which will be offered via Zoom. Keep an eye out for registration!
Richard Bell, Professor in the Department of History at the University of Maryland, has published four books and more than a dozen articles and book chapters.
