Give your jeans new life by learning to repair them! This workshop is for any skill level and very beginner friendly. Each participant will receive their own denim repair kit, and be able to pick from a variety of fabrics and threads to create their own unique mend. All you need to bring is a pair of jeans that needs some love! We will be learning an easy and sturdy technique for patching your jeans and discuss some of the reasons why mending is so impactful.

This event is intended for Athenaeum Young Friend and Student Members.

Allie Hauptman is a 5th generation textile artist specializing in mending and denim repair. Having always repaired her own clothes, in 2022 she started offering her services to friends and eventually grew Love Your Schmatte to serve the city and even accept repairs by mail. She is a member of the Broad Street Love Menders, volunteering at Hub of Hope to repair clothes for guests seeking services there.
