Japanese American Incarceration Remembrance
Bradford Pearson

On the anniversary of President Frankin D. Roosevelt's signing of Executive Order 9066 (February 19, 1942), Bradford Pearson will lead a panel in conversation about the federal government's incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II. He will also screen the film Fear, Football and The Theft of Freedom which features former NFL linebacker and Super Bowl champion Scott Fujita as he traces his family to this dark period of U.S. history.

Bradford Pearson is a National Magazine Award-winning journalist and author whose work examines everything from magicians to Japanese American incarceration to his own kidnapping. He’s written for The New York Times, and Esquire, Time, and Men’s Health magazines, among many other publications. He is currently the features editor for Philadelphia magazine and a contributing writer for the New York Times’ Special Projects team. His 2021 book The Eagles of Heart Mountain was the basis for the NFL documentary 9066: Fear, Football, and the Theft of Freedom.
