The Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP) commemorates its 200th birthday in 2024! Librarian and CEO, David R. Brigham, will discuss the breadth and importance of HSP’s collections and their relevance to researchers today. Since its founding, HSP has collected and preserved an astonishing trove of historical records, encompassing single sheets to vast collections, which continue to reveal untold stories. To commemorate the anniversary, HSP has published Two Hundred Years: The Historical Society of Pennsylvania, 1824-2024, the first book to survey the more than twenty-one million documents, newspapers, graphics, and rare books. The book presents one hundred brief essays highlighting carefully preserved artifacts, spanning the 1600s to the late twentieth century.
