OG NEURO

This is a series that was created during first year of residency when Covid pandemic had begun. It started out as a frontliner shirt that was drawn by TATUM and put onto a shirt which was sold around hospitals and benefits, went to families of people who died from Covid. From there a company called OG Neuro was created which is considered to be a collective of high-level scientists and  street artists connecting to perform creative science, which ranges from abstract, art, music and film to educational materials for people, studying neuroscience or medicine.

OG NEURO: CYCLOHEXANE SERIES - cyclohexane is one of the basic hydrocarbons that is a building block for life. Organic chemists represent the various forms of cyclohexane with a Newman structure, which is a way to draw the molecule on paper. While studying this, TATUM found that the cyclohexane Newman structure looks like a combination between a Stick Figure and a peace sign. These figures are put into a plane with acrylic paint on canvas to represent family and friends. A song and one page reference sheet embodies the fourth semester of organic chemistry one in college and was created and used to get 100% on the final.

OG NEURO SONGS AND FILM include a music video, called STROKE CODE is a song which loosely uses the blood vessels of the brain to tell a story about a female man, character walking around different cities, meeting people who tip their mask to her as a salutation during the times of Covid as part of a magical journey, she experiences, when picking up the pager of a Neurology resident, who is homeless. At the end of the study, she puts the pager down on the street in the homeless scientist picks it up and metamorphosizes into a physician. This show will also Premier a short new video on synucleinopathies.

OG NEURO: INSPIRATION SERIES - artists that inspire series begins as Peter Tatum’s Neurology Notes used to study for the Neurology boards. What I have learned is that incorporating as much sensory modalities into studying embeds, neuroscience material into my brain more efficiently. So I write information repetitively on computer paper to do so. Once the computer paper is full and then put an OG Neuro tag in the center. These notes have been sent to artists throughout the country, who then returned them to me some of which are seen here in this show. There are also examples of color-coded notes used to study and side-by-side examples of how rejection is communicated in the professional world versus on the street and in hip hop culture.

WULLY BULLY BUMBLE BEE is a childrens, fun and educational project, which creates short, educational videos about things, including how to plant flowers and cross the street safely. A new video on bus safety will be released for this show. The main character is woolly bully. Bumblebee and the website sells a sticker that donates money to honeybee conservation. A few selected pieces of collaborative art with children will be shown, including this scene of New York City Times Square during New Year’s Eve.
